Blog Post 7

One of my favorite forms of art is music. Yes i listen to a little bit of everything, but what i can really talk about is Hip Hop and rap. A lot of the time people miss understand the meaning and purpose of rap. What aggruvates me the most is when people dont even listen to what the people are talking about. One of my favorite artists right now is Drake. Drake talks about everything in his music and puts it in a way so clever that to some people it might not make sense. Rap is just poetry with  a beat, which is what he does. His latest album talks about his sucess and how he makes it, its calles Take Care. If you listen to every song on that album he talks about life and tells a story. I think what people dont like is when rappers cus and talk about woman in degrating ways, but if you listen to the sings and what theyre talking about it could change the whole song up. One rapper that gets misunderstood alot is Lil Wayne. They say all he talks about is money and woman, when in reality he also tells storys and has a reason for everything he says. there are so many songs in which this happens that the examples would be endless. Another thing that people dont liek is the example that they set to children which is what aggrivates rappers like Lil Wayne the most. I remeber and interview where he says "im not out to be a role model for anyone exept two (his kids) If people need an example on how to live there lives, then they shouldnt have been born" The fact of the matter is this music is not intended for kids and what hese trying to say is if you dont like his music dont listen to it. he rights and sings for himself amnd his family to express himself which is what somtimes socioty does not understand. Over the years of listing to this music ive learned what the artist mean and underastand them better along with the music. Im still learing and trying to discover new things about it but so far this is my favorite form of art  

Blog 6

1. The biggest problem in a America today is people are to gullible. As soon as people hear something from someone or something they automatically believe it if everyone starts believing it. I read an article once where people protested dihydromonoxide on the streets saying why is was so bad, eventually people joined in and started helping them. It was a joke because it was water that they were protesting against and all people did was listen to what the protesters said with out knowing what it really was. People will watch TV and get the wrong idea about everything with out knowing. You have to believe in what you believe in and do some research before you make decisions. Everyone will watch the news and celebrities and always get the wrong idea because someone tells one story. This goes for people to, if someone sees or hears that someone is involved in a crime or drugs they automatically put a label on them. Sure it is bad but you never know the situation and what people are going through. People just follow the crowd weather they agree or not.

2. The thing I would recommend for everyone is just be real and yourself. If you're straight up and not fake everything will fall into place. If you act the same when your with your friends, family, and by yourself theres no need for you to act different in front of other people. Sure your not going to be the same with your friends and your parents but you shouldn't have to worry about weather people will like you or not. Every teacher, parent, and adult will tell you this, and at first we as teens might say "whatever what do you know" but the fact is its true, through the years that they've been alive they've learned this and are only trying to help us. You can really notice this in highschool, with the freshman's all worried about image and who there getting involved with, but when you see the upperclassmen they know the deal and know that thats just a maturity thing. So I say this advice to help people early and because it is the truth. Being your self and straight up is the best way to be because you'll probably find happiness where ever you go.

3. Before i leave for the summer of 2012 i want to accomplish and do alot of things. For one i want to advance to the state tournament later this month in march. ive been working all season and i thought my season would end last tournament at districts but i fought through it to make it to regionals and i am now state ranked, so i dont want to be a disappointment. i also want to get my license in april and have my car ready. im ready for the responsibility of that and want to be able to do things my own way. i also want to take my SAt's and do good in them. Hopefully your class will help me in that. i want to start working alot more because collage is coming up and im going to need all the help i can get. ive grown alot so far and i just want to continue with this progress. Everyone says it will be over before we know it so im making it count my last two years here. Hope fully when im gone people will remember the things i did here and say good thing about me.

1. I think Sofia has changed from her experiences through the book so far. In the beginning of the story when her first boyfriend don't work out, she finds a new one and thinks he is the one right away. He is a German tourist who she met somewhere in South Africa. This relationship changed many of hers, especially with her father. Because her father is a traditional Dominican father, when she runs away to marry him he gets very angry. Now when ever Sofia is around her father she cant be herself because she is constantly worried about pleasing her father. So as a character things aren't and probably wont be the same with her and her father. So in a way with her actions she causes tension with the whole family and with her trying to always make up for it, it shows the guilt she has.


2. Although there are many negatives in the book so far one positive was Yolandas conflict with her father about the speech that she had wrote. Because they wernt able to express what really happend at first it my have seemed like a negative. Carlos was really mad at the speech but did not know what do. Even tho the fist attempt to help the problem was bad, in a way it did help. When he was able to explain himself i think it made up a little bit for what happend. It was bad to get her a new typewriter. When a parent feels bad for making them feel bad they should jut talk to them and explain them selfs instead of buying gifts, that isnt good for the child. That is how they can become spoiled and taking advantage of there parents. This covers a positive side tho because in a way it shows that no matter what the parents and kids will always love each other. It seemed negative but shows positives to 


3. I think Jeremy is a good example of the connection with the book and what it has to deal with the identity and nationality. The people of 2012 watching basketball in a way are looking at the races differently because of the success that Lin has had, along with many other players. Lin has shown people that anyone can play basketball  in this time, even though there have been other asian basketball players Lin is more of an Asian American and can prove to people what he can do. Basketball can be characterized as a sport where mostly the African Americans can excel at but Lin has been able to change that in todays eyes where anything can happen, we have an african american president, and more cultures are rising up to be more and more things. He will be remembered in the NBA for a while by many fans weather he likes it or not, Lin is a good example for the book in terms of dealing with identiry and nationality.

10 Refelection

Valentines Day

The first part of this article is strictly stating facts. I was surprised how much money people spend on that special day called Valentines Day. What interested me about this article is that Valentines Day was just yesterday and I wanted to read more about it. I also was interested in hearing what people do and why they do it. However I do disagree with what the article was saying. Instead of spending so much on the chocolate and flowers do something else with the money he stated. I think that what you do for the person you love is your choice, if you really like them you should go all out and do what you need to di to make them feel special. The topic does make me think about how much we spend on the holiday but at the end it should all be worth it. I would not recommend this article because this person is ruining the spirit of the holiday and makes people think about what they should or shouldn’t do. Towards the end the article did get bias on what you should do for your valentine.

One of the many current national “takes” on New York Knicks basketball star-in-the-making, Jeremy Lin:

This article is mostly fact but also has some opinion in it. It is talking about an Asian America basketball player who is on the rise and is becoming very successful. The diversity is what made me read the article. Not many Asian Americans are known for playing basketball and I thought that was interesting. Even though I am a wrestler this article does interest me because it has to do with basketball. There is nothing really to agree with but the fact that no matter where he played the Asian percentage that would go to the game would defiantly rise. This article makes me think that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it. It says that he has a weird jump shit but that does not stop him from making them. Yes I would recommend this article because in a way it does inspire me. He also did a good job on explaining the game and what happened.

Elie Wiesel challenges Mitt Romney’s Church:

The article states mostly fact but does have some bias in it. It talks about passed away Jews being baptized when it is against their religion. What interests me is that people would do this when it is none of their business to do that to people. What is even worse is that they are doing to the people who died in the holocaust. I completely disagree with what they are doing and they need to stop. I don’t think they should have anything to do with what has happened to them and let them be in peace. This made me think about the kind of people that would do this. It also made me think about how I would feel if people were doing this to my people. I would recommend this article to more people so that more people get aware of what is happening. Hopefully this stops soon and let people do what they please dead or alive.        

Men Vs Woman

In the year of 2012 many gender stereotypes and roles in society have changed for the male and female. What is expected of them currently is for both of them to have jobs. They both go make money for the family and come back home. Most people would say that the male still has the most income and still provides the most but things are changing these days and woman can have the same if not more. Today men and woman are looked at as the same and equal in every way. The male is still seen as the person to bring home the most money which is bad because woman are doing the same so its getting harder for competition. Its also hard for them because they have to meet womans expectations which keep getting higher and higher. Woman still have to deal with some prejudice in the work place but things are getting better for them. The stereotypes of 2012 are very small and are slowly going away. Soon there wont be a saying of who stays home and takes care of the kids or cooks and cleans.

7 questions

1 I say Yes, Alberty Eienstien  was one of the worlds greatest minds to ever walk the planet. However anyone can read and be smart. Althought he did it the best, being able to change the laws of physics and gravity doing actual magic is more imprssive to me.

2 Even though the band doesnt amuse me, i think i would rather hear them then get my collar bone broken. id still have my love sop it would be okay. Hopefully i learn to like the band if thatsd all i will be hearing
3 If i were the news editor i would publish the president cancer. The public should not be exoposed to those creatures yet because it would start alot more conflict. And the scientist should have a little bit of time to anylise the animals before they are released

4 i would probably just give him 20 billz, even if nothing changes its only 20 dollars and itl prob be the only thing in my wallet. i dont really care if it works or not but 20 dollars isnt so bad to give it a try

5 No because canadian footbakll is dumb to me. if it happens it happens it haooens but im not going to go out and look for it. ill end up there anyways so why start early

6 i would tell them that i did it for there own good, and hoepfully they'll undeerstand. i'll probably end up getting akick from them to but im guessing it will be worth it. Theres really nothing you can say tho if you kick them in the ribs for there life

7 i wopuld be more intrested in the hollywood movie because i already know my life and i dont need to see it again so they might as well watch a movie i havnt seen. even tho i would like to see all my happy moments again watching somthing new is good to
